The local area
There are two tea shops in Grange, and restaurants providing evening meals are a short walk away. For users of public transport, the Borrowdale bus stop is just yards away. This bus provides a popular service from the head of the Borrowdale valley to Keswick. Always popular with walkers, there are good routes in all directions from Grange. To the north lies Derwentwater; to the west is Maiden Moor, High Spy and Cat Bells; to the south is Castle Crag and the delightful Borrowdale Valley, with Scafell beyond; to the east is Grange Fell and Watendlath. For an example of a good local walk try this link. The popular Market town of Keswick is five miles away, by the north shores of Derwentwater. With regular street markets on Saturdays and a farmers' market on Thursdays, Keswick has a wide range of attractions for visitors, including a wide variety of shops, cafés, tea rooms, coffee houses, pubs, restaurants, galleries and museums. Here you will find the popular and successful Theatre by the Lake, where plays are staged in repertoire through the summer months. Keswick also has a swimming pool, mini-golf course and public tennis courts. For those who enjoy leisurely water sports there are two marinas on the west side of Derwentwater. For those who like simply to relax and enjoy the scenery, the views around this part of the Lake District are outstanding. ![]() |
